Expansion of local resources and environmental scan
The Calgary Silver Linings Foundation was founded in 2014 as a charitable foundation to build awareness for eating disorders and expand the continuum of care for eating disorders in Alberta. The organization is going through exciting times and partnering with the local health authority and community organization to establish a new community eating disorder treatment centre in mid 2022. The role of the foundation as an established community resource and knowledgeable partner is pivotal to the success of this new centre. We would like the prospective student to focus on the following deliverables. Environmental Scan To complete an environmental scan of programming elements used in exemplary eating disorder treatment programs across the world. Review both the clinical and non clinical/non traditional services offered, referral process and community resources (before admission and after discharge). This environmental scan should include any evaluation data as it relates to clinical outcomes and success factors captured by the programs. Community Resources Refresh To update and refresh the community resources for the Silver Linings community. This refresh will include connecting with the therapists and other community resources available in both Calgary and Alberta. Establishing contact with community resources and ensuring the accurate information is reflected on the website. Identifying opportunities for reciprocal partnership support to enhance the eating disorder ecosystem. Working closely with the communications team to update the resources and partnerships on the Silver Linings website. Qualifications The ideal candidate is a graduate student in the social sciences or healthcare department. For example: social work, nursing, medicine, or health promotion/prevention. Past work experience or volunteering in the area of wellness and mental health is an asset. The successful student will be supervised by Marlies van Dijk, RN, MSc, Project Lead of the Silver Linings foundation - with weekly connection and guidance. Thank you for considering this proposal and we hope to hear from you.
