Website Content Development

Overview Marineview Housing Society is seeking a student to develop website content for publication on a 10-page website under development. About Marineview Housing Society Marineview Housing Society is a registered charity with a six-member board. It was formed in 1975 when parents and clients and the guidance of David Malchow, social worker at Lions Gate Hospital came together to provide low-income housing for adults living with and in recovery from mental illness. The first site was in West Vancouver, and over time has increased to three sites. Initially these sites were solely shared accommodation managed by the parents and residents themselves. However, quickly MHS recognized the need to respond to community needs arising from the reduction and ultimate closure of the larger psychiatric facilities. In partnership with the Department of Health and more recently the regional health authority, registered nurses and aid workers were hired at the two 10-bed sites. The two sites became licensed and until recently were the only licensed sites on the North Shore. A third 6-bed site is in the process of being licensed. The Society is currently going through a renewal process, focusing on rejuvenating is locations and strengthening its practices.
